Career and Technical Training
The Citrus County School District offers a variety of career and technical opportunities designed to prepare students for future careers. Citrus County School District offers ten different career clusters that encompass twenty-three different technical pathways. In their eighth-grade year, students may apply to special Career and Technical Academies located within our three high schools that address four different career clusters. Once in high school, students are also afforded the opportunity to apply to Withlacoochee Technical College where they can earn post-secondary credit while participating in our Dual Enrollment programs.
Withlacoochee Technical College (WTC), a part of the Citrus County School District, offers a wide range of career and technical education programs for both adult learners and qualifying high school students. WTC focuses on providing hands-on, real-world training with industry-standard curriculum and equipment, designed in close collaboration with local employers. Students can pursue careers in a variety of fields, including:
- Health Sciences: Programs like Medical Assisting, Practical Nursing, and Massage Therapy.
- Skilled Trades: Opportunities in fields such as Electricity, Welding, and HVAC.
- Information Technology: Training in Computer Systems and Infomation Technology and Cybersecurity.
- Public Safety: Programs for Law Enforcement and Corrections.
- Culinary and Hospitality: Courses focused on Culinary Arts and Hospitality.
WTC's programs are often completed in less than a year, and the college emphasizes high placement rates for its graduates. High school students can also take advantage of dual enrollment, attending WTC for part of the day to earn both high school elective credits and post-secondary hours.
