WTC is proud to be a part of SkillsUSA, America’s proud champion of the skilled trades. SkillsUSA is a student-led partnership of education and industry that is building the future skilled workforce our nation depends on. Students hone their hands-on skills in a variety of occupational areas, as well as improve their leadership qualities. Currently representing nearly 400,000 career and technical education students and instructors, SkillsUSA chapters are located in middle schools, high schools, and college/postsecondary institutions nationwide.

SkillsUSA Competitors

WTC SkillsUSA students participated at the state level competition in April 2023 and placed as follows:

  • Dalton Sanders - 3rd Electrical Construction and Wiring
  • Dalton Collins - 3rd Information Technology Services
  • Robert Merkle - 1st Information Technology Services
  • Shawn McElroy - 2nd Internet Workings
  • Thaxton Fitts - 1st Industrial Motor Control
Additionally, in June 2023 Thaxton Fitts and Robert Merkle travelled to Atlanta, Georgia to compete in the SkillsUSA National Competition. While there, Thaxton Fitts placed 12th and Robert Merkle placed 4th in their respective competitions.

National Technical Honor Society

The National Technical Honor Society (NTHS) is an educational non-profit that exists to honor, recognize, and empower students and teachers in career and technical education.  NTHS serves over 100,000 active members annually in both secondary and postsecondary chapters across the country.  NTHS honors the achievements of top career and technical education students, provides close to $300,000 in scholarships annually, and strives to help connect education and industry to build a highly skilled workforce. 

Withlacoochee Technical College inducts qualifying students into NTHS twice a year.  Shown below are the most recent inductees:
