WHY DID YOU CHOSE TO PURSUE A CAREER AS A LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER?

I chose to pursue a career in Law Enforcement to fulfill a lifelong dream. In the summer of 1993, I watched The Fugitive starring Harrison Ford, and from that moment, I was captivated by the dynamics of the job and the opportunity to serve and protect others.

WHAT WAS YOUR CAREER BEFORE APPLYING TO THE ENTERING THE ACADEMY AT WTC?
I was a diesel mechanic at a small tractor shop in Kentucky.

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THE CITRUS COUNTY PUBLIC SAFETY TRAINING CENTER AT WTC?

I moved to the area from Kentucky and didn’t have any prior knowledge of the academies nearby. After hearing positive reviews and word-of-mouth recommendations, I decided to look into this one. I had the chance to meet several students, and Director Kanter took the time to talk with me and answer all of my questions. The overall experience left a strong impression and played a major role in my decision to enroll.

WHAT DO YOU LIKE MOST ABOUT THE PROGRAM?

The camaraderie that develops between you and the 25 strangers you meet on the first day is something special. We support each other, study together, and push one another to succeed in the academy. Many of us have even begun forming friendships that extend beyond the academy walls.

IF YOU COULD DESCRIBE SPRAY DAY IN THREE WORDS, WHAT WOULD THEY BE?
Intense, necessary, and resilience.

WHAT WAS THE MOST VALUABLE THING YOU LEARNED ABOUT YOURSELF AS A STUDENT?
Difficulties in life are steppingstones that, if used correctly, can build a bridge of tenacity.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO THOSE CONSIDERING THE PROGRAM?
Learn the six P’s, practice them and make them a way of life. And a little running wouldn’t hurt, either.
