Christian Swanson was a student at Lecanto High School who was unsure of what path he wanted to pursue in his future. He decided, with help from his guidance counselor, Mrs. Torres, to try WTC for a change.
Throughout the first semester, Christian attended the class as a dual enrolled student, completing his remaining required high school credits in-person and online. He remained on track with full time WTC attendees, learning about powered and hand tools, handling refrigerants, and managed to complete two certifications before Christmas vacation. By the end of the first semester, he completed all of his high school classes, and joined WTC for the second semester full time, where he finished two more certifications and graduated as one of the first dual enrolled HVAC technicians, having completed the entire class for under $400.
He joined the Citrus County School Board Maintenance team as an apprentice and was later hired as the HVAC Controls Technician. There he receives full benefits, a pension, and future potential for growth. Christian has an interesting and fulfilling career where he works on all types of commercial and residential air conditioners and controls.
